Esteemed Star Pat Finn, Known For Appearances in Seinfeld and The Middle, Dies at Age 60.
US actor Finn, who appeared in iconic programs like Friends, "Seinfeld" and "The Middle", has passed away at the age of 60.
The comedic improv actor succumbed at his home in LA on Monday after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis since 2022, per media reports.
"He considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he had yet to meet," his family shared in a message.
They added that he had "lived his life fully - with joy and exuberance".
An Extensive TV Career
His initial on-screen part was on a show starring George Wendt in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the lead character's sibling.
He subsequently landed a regular part on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.
He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, playing a party host known to delegate burdensome jobs to his guests.
During the late 1990s and early 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on a variety of popular shows, including:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House
Finn was perhaps best known for portraying Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons over nearly a decade.
His film credits are It's Complicated (2009) and "Santa Paws 2".
Beyond the Screen
Away from his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.
He was part of a six-person improv troupe known as "Beer Shark Mice".
"Finn taught, supported, and inspired numerous pupils throughout the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person anywhere who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.
Paying homage, peer Richard Kind remarked there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, authentic human being you could encounter".
"Always positive, making those around him better and funnier. A great dad, a great guy," Kind wrote on social media.
Finn is remembered by his spouse Donna, three children, and his parents and siblings.
