Fast bowler Atkinson Adds to England's Injury Problems.

'Significant concern' for the English camp as Atkinson goes off due to a hamstring issue.

Gus Atkinson increased the injury concerns plaguing England after leaving the field on the second morning of the fourth Ashes Test versus the Australians.

The pace bowler felt a problem in his hamstring immediately following a delivery of the fourth over at the MCG.

The touring camp stated Atkinson felt some "soreness" and was to take time away from the action to undergo evaluation "during the day".

The series decider in this Ashes battle at the SCG gets underway on Sunday, 4 January.

England have previously lost fast bowlers one seamer to a knee injury and another paceman because of a side injury on the current trip.

Matthew Fisher was called up as cover for Wood.

His form was underwhelming early in the series, taking just a handful of scalps.

He was omitted from the previous Test, then recalled for the Boxing Day match in the playing XI.

The county bowler performed better in the fourth Test, claiming a couple of wickets in Australia's first innings, and scoring 28 runs while batting being one of only three England players to get into double digits.

After bowling one over in Australia's second innings, he came back the next day and had nightwatchman Scott Boland caught behind.

Unfortunately, on the final ball of that over, he sent down a change of pace to Travis Head and immediately felt for his hamstring.

Atkinson was recalled for the Boxing Day Test after being left out the previous Test.
