Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes across the region in retaliation for a significant and continuing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is not yet known and the United States has remained silent.

Missile Defenses Activated

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - stated they have intercepted missiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations associated with the the regime, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the government.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," the statement continued.

It said missile fragments landed in a residential area in the capital, causing some material damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
